Keck's Exclusives: Castle's Double Doppelgänger Mystery


Castle's "Esplanie" shippers will get an extra dose of the couple in the bizarre November 18 episode of the ABC drama when Detective Esposito (Jon Huertas) and medical examiner Lanie (Tamala Jones) are confronted with dead look-alikes. "A body at a crime scene looks identical to Lanie," says Jones. "Then another body pops up that looks like Esposito."

After Lanie discovers that the murders involved surgical enhancements and torture with fishing wire, "the whole team is messed up in the head," Jones says. "It's the most emotional and serious you've ever seen Esposito and Lanie, and this incident makes them decide they should spend time apart."

Jones and Huertas were similarly traumatized from playing corpses for hours on end. "We had to lie on the slab wearing dead-people contact lenses with our necks made up to look like we were hanged," she says. "It took a serious emotional toll on us both."

ADAM: Great minds think alike! When I asked creator Andrew W. Marlowe if the elusive Triple Killer — last (not) seen after Castle shot him in Season 5 — was again taunting the team at the 12th Precinct, he didn't exactly say no. "Clearly, that's something we're going to talk about in the episode," he says. "From Beckett's point of view, 3XK is dead; from Castle's point of view, he's still out there. The specter of that always hangs in the back of folks' head when they see people targeted." The question, Marlowe insists, is why would 3XK be targeting Lanie and Esposito? Anyone have any guesses?

‘Castle’ star teases Lanie’s big episode

Fans of Lanie Parish disillusioned by her near invisibility this season can rest easy. (Not too easy, though, unless they want to end up on a slab under her examining gaze.)

This Sunday, Castle‘s resident MEE (medical examiner extraordinaire) gets her first taste of the Season 6 limelight in “Disciple,” which revolves around a killer-on-the-loose who may or may not be targeting members of the 12th Precinct, including Lanie, to whom the first body that surfaces bears a striking resemblance.

“It is very, very, very intense, and my most memorable episode altogether for Lanie,” portrayer Tamala Jones tells TV Guide Canada of Sunday’s instalment. “Just the emotional side that I had to play, and Lanie having to do her job … and hold it together and be professional, but still be affected by what she’s seen. It’s really deep, really deep.”...
