"Headhunters" - With tensions rising between Castle and Beckett, Castle finds himself a new partner -- Detective Ethan Slaughter (guest star Adam Baldwin, "Firefly"), a tough and colorful cop from the city's gang unit. But Castle gets more than he bargained for when Slaughter shows him a grittier side of police work that puts Castle in the line of fire like never before, on "Castle," MONDAY, APRIL 16 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
"Castle" stars Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle, Stana Katic as NYPD Detective Kate Beckett, Susan Sullivan as Martha Rodgers, Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle, Penny Johnson Jerald as NYPD Captain Victoria Gates, Tamala Jones as Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Jon Huertas as NYPD Detective Javier Esposito, and Seamus Dever as NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan.
Guest Cast: Adam Baldwin as Detective Ethan Slaughter, Michael McGrady as Brian Reilly, Michael Dorn as Dr. Carter Burke.
a guest star in next week’s episode is likely to diffuse a little of the fan tension: Fillion’s Firefly co-star Adam Baldwin, who guests as Castle’s new creative inspiration, Det. Slaughter. “Because of where he’s at with Beckett, [Castle] is feeling a little uninspired. So he sees this guy on the news, who’s a larger-than-life figure, and he thinks, ‘Well maybe I need a different muse. Maybe I need to go in a different direction for a bit,’” previews Marlowe. But might Castle be biting off more than he can chew? “He gets in a little over his head because Det. Slaughter is not the same kind of cop Beckett is. And so he finds himself in more challenging situations and wonders whether the grass is greener.”
The episode, adds Marlowe, allowed the writers to deal with the Castle-Beckett relationship in a unique way. “It’s all about the Castle-Beckett relationship, and Beckett ends up being very much a part of it,” he assures. “The two of them are going to be challenged and learn some new things, and it’s gonna be interesting as we get to the conclusion.”

Wow.... It seems Castle wants to be part of Slaughter's little fraternity. Kate's guys (Espo and Ryan) are not cool enough for him. He has to go hang with the 'real guys", Slaughter and his buddy.
The assumption around the fandom is that Castle ends up getting hurt, and this forces Kate to face the possibility of losing Castle in her life. I, however, will like to throw the following:
What if Kate learns that Castle is planning to use Slaughter as his new muse.
Remember just a couple of weeks back she found out about Sophia and how she was the inspiration for Clara Strike. She also learned that things between Castle and Sophia ended in bad terms with Castle ultimately choosing to leave Sophia behind. What if this is her big clue that she is really losing Castle.
Castle, the man who wrote an entire book about her, has decided to write a new book based on someone else. His 3 book contract is about to end, and if he is considering writing a book about someone else then he doesn't have a reason to be at the precinct with her or much less follow her around.
Even if they were not together as a couple she knows that as long as Castle is writing books about Nikki, he would be around her and the precinct. Hearing that he has another muse will cause the same emotions that we saw from her in "When the bough breaks" or "A Deadly Game". Castle is leaving or will soon be leaving, and she never got around to tell him exactly how she feels about him.
I really do think this will be her wake up call, and it is the reason she goes to see Dr. Burke. She begins to wonder if she waited too long to tell him specially now that he is showing signs that he is ready to leave her behind (new muse, possible new book deal, possibly reviving Derrick Storm).
Once it dawns on her, she will start to panic.
We can still have Castle hurt sometime in the episode, but by then Kate has already come to the conclusion that if she doesn't do anything she will lose him anyway.

I LOVE the third sneak peek! GO DR. BURKE! When Kate says she "waited too long," the smart Doc refutes her (and half the fandom) with, "You weren't waiting, you were healing." THANK YOU MARLOWE FOR MAKING THAT CRYSTAL CLEAR!
Yeah, the second one was hard to watch.
This episode looks like a serious angst ride.
And yes, Beckett, Castle IS acting like a jackass.

Okay, THAT ^ sneak peak shows Castle is CLEARLY out of his mind. That whole scene just SCREAMS, "Rick's about to get his ass whipped." ...is it bad that I kinda want to see him get pulverized.... like really, some guys just need to have sense knocked into them. Not ALL guys, mind you. Take the character of Ryan. It's funny, but of the three guys he actually has the most integrity, and clear-headed-ness. Like the way he handled the realization that Montgomery was the third cop, the stuff with Jenny being one of those guys conquests, were very logical thought out conclusions. Even the silly thing with giving Javier his wedding ring. He didn't jump to a conclusion - he TESTED things out. Castle gets an idea in his head and that's it. He's fueled by the high, whether it's the high of the chase, or the deep wallow of wounded pride and heart, he CAN'T see beyond it until something wallops him. I mean honestly, if Beckett HAD NOT been shot and bleeding out in his arms those words would have never come out of his mouth. It was the equivalent of a two-by-four wack in the head by the universe making his feelings crystal-clear. Apparently he's due for another wack. The wack Beckett has needed is less about her feelfor Castle and more about letting herself have a LIFE, letting go of the tight grip she's had on her mom's murder. Castle has been a catalyst for that. Anyway, should be an interesting episode.

goodness... do I even need to watch the whole ep on Monday night? Just tune in for the last 10 minutes... might as well miss Castle behaving like a frat boy
What HAS Castle got himself involved in? The Westies again? Nice Sucker Punch throw back! This has got DISASTROUS RESULTS written all over it! GULP!
Castle will learn that being a cop is not as easy as when he is with Beckett, and that Beckett has always lookout for him. Castle will come to see that Kate has treated him as an equal instead of just a "plucky sidekick" as slaughter is doing. It is also worth noting that Castle is not acting like himself. He is in need of validation and wants the approval of a male peer. His attempts at being the brave Macho cop will fail because that is not who he is.
BTW great catch on the Westies and for the finale another throw back to the Latin Kings.

No, you WANT to see Castle acting like a frat boy, because you want to see him realizing it's not who he is anymore. There are glimpses of the realization in the sneak peaks. Plus what they AREN'T showing alot of is how this all affects Kate. Tink had mentioned the Westies angle before and it's clear some groundwork is being laid for Castle's murderboard reveal and whatever is gonna go down in the finale. The episode after this is the so-called "light, fluffy and funny" epi (Only on Castle are Zombies "light and fluffy" ) so whatever major hints about the finale are likely to be in THIS episode. You don't want to miss any of it.
