Sorry, Tink, but based on that last spoiler, I'm predicting a bit of a ratings drop for Castle. Network heads just don't get it. Having been through it with another fandom I will have NO problem dropping Castle if they go that route. SERIOUSLY. I gave that other show too many passes early on and it's turned out to be a big waste of time. So now, no one gets a pass. First red flag and I'm out, and this looks like a red flag. It's an empty move given where they've moved things to. Doing in in season 4 instead of six doesn't make it less pointless and plot-driven. The character comes in episode 3. I'll follow it 'till then, and see, but I may just be a dropout.

I will say that I think this is more of a network/Nathan influence than Marlowe. The network didn't want Castle to say I love you, so this satisfies their warped thinking. God, I wish these network heads would think more like Cable execs. You don't need a third party to create tension or for characters to figure out how they feel about each other. Network is so black and white. It's either they're moving to get married, or they are sleeping with other people while 'longing' for each other. The Closer, Burn Notice... God people, start working with a different model.

So, yeah, fairytales I agree with ya.

I'm gonna go positive here for a moment... I was REALLY annoyed at Legend of the Seeker going into season two because they hyped a love triangle but it never even came close to happening. There wasn't even a "maybe" about it. Other things destroyed that show for me, actually, but yeah... maybe all this is pointless hype to get people excited?

I really hope nothing comes of it. I was hoping for something different on Castle.


EDIT: positive didn't last... I am now debating jumping ship while the "I love you" is still fresh in my mind with no chances of spoilage...

Yeah, maybe they're fishing for direction, if so they'll get the idea this is a bad one. Unfortunately , it doesn't sound that way to me. It sounds like a guy idea. Admit your love, then go sleep with someone else. They've got her cast in "several" episodes. As for "hype" - the fandom's been super-hyped. This just turned me off. Like I said, I'm watching through her arrival. IF Castle sleeps with her - I'm out. I learned from Bones.

Yeah I don't get why people LOVE the jealousy angle... I guess those are the ones watching for instant gratification and not the over all story? Which is fine I guess. Just not for me.

And I agree. Once he sleeps with her I'm gone. In fact, I might even be gone before that. I'm still debating on whether or not to bail now so that I'm left with a beautiful "I love you" and not Castle going back on what he learned this past season and the bitter taste of betrayal.

Speaking of Bones... it looks like they aren't done with triangles either... Can't ANYONE GET A NEW IDEA???

I think that with the title "Eye of the Beholder" and the fact that the new female character is an Art Insurance Investigator...the case will be about art theft? Possibly art forgery?

Art forgery would be a better story line, if only to have the opportunity to parallel the case with the characters lives. With a forgery it is possible to have a beautiful piece of "art" that you think is authentic and worth a pretty penny...only to discover that you've been duped, the piece is a fake and worthless. Does this diminish the aesthetic value of the artwork? No. It is still beautiful even in it's fraudulent state. If this IS the case and the case parallels the new female character...what would make a seemingly beautiful woman not all she seems? A fake? She's either a) Got some serious back story and major skeletons in the closet b) She's gay (not attracted to Castle in the slightest...finds Beckett quite HOT though! LOL! That would be hysterical!) or c) She was born a He...and has had a sex change. (Castle would NEVER live that down with the Boys! This would also be funny!)

It IS possible for a "third party" character to be brought in and used for other narrative value rather than just for the twisting knife in the heart. She could be there for comedy value? To prove that you can't judge a book by it's cover?

Just throwing some random ideas out there...Castle is usually pretty imaginative with it's scenarios and I'd love for Castle to be thinking he's charming the pants off this new lady only to discover that she's really into Beckett...That's something that's not been done before and Castle couldn't even blame her!

Who knows, I could be completely wrong?

I don't find love interests this late in the game funny. I don't care if she is gay and after Beckett if Castle is still drooling over her.

I have no desire to watch Castle forget he just said "I love you" to Beckett and go after another woman. I'd hope he'd show some of that constraint like he did during Nikki Heat. I don't find men who profess to loving one woman being lured into traps by other women funny or entertaining.

I'd rather watch a strong man not fall into temptation. Not be so blinded by lust they can't see straight.

I just hope they don't have Castle relapse back to season 1 Castle. :/ We'll see I guess. Or you'll see as I might run for the hills.

You never know...he could be just trying to get the Great Wall of Beckett to crack a little?

Also, we have NO idea what's gone down in the season opener...or the other three episodes up to this point?
I love Jealous Beckett! (Who can forget the line from the Season Three opener, "Does she make you do EVERYTHING on a deadline?" ) Castle has to have some sign that his love for his muse isn't all one sided?

I think Castle knows it isn't all one sided. And there doesn't need to be YET ANOTHER love interest for him to find out if he doesn't already know. As I said, TIME TO GET A NEW ANGLE! IMHO anyway.

Whether or not Beckett is "we need time before we jump into anything" or just plain out "nothing can ever be" ... he's already said "I love you." If he loses that THIS FAST then he's just another Booth. I wont be able to believe he can settle down and have forever with anyone if his head can turn that fast and be swayed that quickly.

Now if he's using miss I'mthemostbeautifulinsuranceagentEVAH to get to Beckett and it is outright apparent (I'm also done trying to read between lines) ... then OK. I'll concede to deal with her. But otherwise, I'm so gone.

And yes, there have been some good moments on both sides over jealousy... but time to move on. To me it stops being funny after a certain point and gets annoying.

Thanks Tink. I'm still gloomy over the spoiler. My excitment for the new season has definitely died down. Although, I am looking forward to the premiere. TWO once favorite shows turning sucky.... I think if Castle really does this BS routinue I'm just watching cable, because clearly Network TV will have proved it's to be a waste. I mean...did they NOT see Bones' fall numbers before they droped that storyline and AI saved their ass?

I'm gloomy too but I'm holding on to some hope that this is just being overly hyped. I mean wasn't someone somewhere saying they will not keep repeating the same stuff? Castle has done the love interests... they should not be repeating!!!!

If Castle does this... I will have lost THREE shows in one year. NCIS, Bones and Castle. I give up.. ::pops in some old 80s shows::

I'm pretty sure she is because the idea that she DIDN'T KNOW how season six of Bones ended is ludicrous. The very statement that they're "watching" Bones to see what happens and then saying she didn't know how the finale ended makes the whole thing a falsehood. (I thought she might have been making a dig at the fact that you never actually saw them sleep together. )

They step over the line and turn Castle back into season 1 Castle and I am out. I'm done with shows not progressing. They claim they're progressing but they aren't if they're staying in SO land.

I don't know... The first spoiler could have been put out to get a read on just how far they could push...because while conventional Network wisdom says to keep the love interests apart until you're ready to end a series, last season's "Bones" had to have given at least some of the people - who are dealing with that issue on their shows - pause. Could be the spoiler was a proverbial dove - and it came back with NADA. Being that they had to shoot two different endings in order to get the epic season 3 finale approved, maybe there are other hoops to jump through and things to "show" in order to keep the network from sending Castle down the usual stupid track.

Of course, it could just be BS damage control, but in that case it's kind of a waste. That spoiler DID come out, so if Castle sleeps with this insurance chick in ep 4 they'll have blown it, spoiled or not. I said it before, I'll have no problem dropping my viewing during their stall time.

I have serious doubts now that ANY show will go for GOOD story telling over 10 season run. IMHO having a show around for 5 years with a GOOD story line is way better than having it around for 5 years of good story telling followed by 5 years of total crap that might please people who aren't looking at the over all story.

Just reading back through all the spoilers (trying to put them into episode order) thought it was kind of interesting that when the new Captain was being introduced the first spoilers to come out said that they were planning on her being: Female. Mid-40's. A Flirt.

This was the first powder keg to explode within the fandom. The expectant summer hiatus was disrupted with dread wondering if the flirty captain would be flirty with Castle?

Well...here we are about two months on from that...The Captain's age was pushed up a bit, she's not that fussed on Castle (understatement), she wears a wedding ring & possibly has 2 kids ( http://www.tvguide.com/News/Kecks-Exclusives-Castle-Captain-1036431.aspx)

Back we went to the happy expectancy...until powder keg numero two-ie-o went ka-blewie-o! And now the "insurance investigator" is the wicked witch that the Caskett shippers want to drop a house on (also accompanied by cries of "Richard Castle! How COULD you?!")

I'm just wondering if this new spanner in the works will fizzle out to nothing given some time?

This might be me in denial, but as I said I've seen shows hype love interests that never come to be so I would not be surprised if this is just to keep the fandom buzzing. I really really really *REALLY* hope that is all this is.

But I still have my remote nearby ready to slap the off button
