I'm still not thrilled about the flirting thing... I mean I KNOW it wont be anything crazily stupid like we've seen elsewhere but I've just had it with the love triangles or even hints of them. I know it wont really be a love triangle... but I'm just over it I'm over the mindless meaningless flirting with third parties. Does that make sense? My soul is tired! lol

Good News - at least I think so. They have shifted the age of the new Captain up ten years. So she will be older than BOTH Castle and Beckett. It could make for some interesting dynamics between her and Beckett because the age difference is enough that some mom/mentor issues might come into play later on in the season...

Interesting.... I wonder if Will Beall - who wrote the Knockdown, Countdown, Knockout trio - will be working on it as well? That would make sense: same writer, same director, same feel. The title certainly fits the sequence... I mean, clearly AM oversees everything. He created the show, and he creates those arcs and timelines. However, he doesn't take credit as the actual writer on every script. I'm more curious than ever for this season's premiere!

Will Beall is not with Castle this season.

Awesome question, Danielle. According to Andrew Marlowe, once Beall leaves the show (sniff) to pursue his “budding feature film career,” look for everyone to lend a hand, with him keeping a close eye. “Nothing on the show happens without me overseeing it. If necessary, I’ll step in to continue it. We have a very clear idea of where we want to go, and it’s possible that somebody emerges with a new, interesting, and compelling point of view,” he says. “But Will has done a terrific job of getting us to this point, and we’re really pleased with the work that he’s done, but we will make sure that Beckett’s mother’s murder is well-serviced into the future.” That said, he wishes the fan-fave writer well, adding, “Our door is always open. Who knows, maybe when he gets tired of people giving him lots and lots of money to write big features, he’ll come back and slum and do an episode or two for us.” We can only hope. “Yeah, but he’ll probably come back and say ‘Eh, can’t I do a funny one?’ ‘Can I do one about a murder at the Renaissance Fair?’ That’s one he wanted to do.” Marlowe says, laughing.

I agree that DMB will start the fight. He probably overheard Kate expressing her love for Castle when she starts coming out of anesthesia. He gets upset by this and goes out to face Castle. He blames Castle for what has happen to Kate and then suddenly throws a punch. They start to fight, and Espo and Ryan break up the fight. DMB tells Castle he is done, he tellls Castle that she is all yours and walks away.

Michael Ausiello confirms it won't be just a clash of words between DMB & RC...

DMB upset about the fight with Castle asks Beckett to choose, and our lovely Detective tells him to take his motorcycle and shove it where the sun don't shine....

After reading this, I'm convinced that DMB's days as Beckett's annoying SO are done. What probably will happen is that Beckett learns about the fight between Castle and DMB, and DMB asks Beckett to choose between him and Castle. She does. She picks Castle. This is what will reverberate throughout the season and beyond. We the audience will know who she wants to be with, but Castle will not know this. There is the rub....

This is what will reverberate throughout the season and beyond. We the audience will know who she wants to be with, but Castle will not know this. There is the rub....

OR, it could be that the person Montgomery handed over in that package is Castle's Friend, THE MAYOR. Not only does he have to protect her, but he has to deal with knowing his "friend" was involved with Beckett's mom's death. He has to keep it from her for as long as possible for her protection, but when she finds out how can it NOT look like he was protecting his friend. An effect over SEASONS, even if they become lovers this year, the info would create a real emotional and legitimate hurdle.

Marlowe has said the story doesn't end when they get together, that they'll still have a lot to go through. Imagine if Kate's trying to move closer to Castle, and him wanting the same thing but dealing with the guilt of that secret.

Along with that, I think she WILL chose Castle in that fight issue, and Castle will be OVER THE MOON...only to get that package from Montgomery.

My thoughts about the new captain:
The father-figure has been replaced by a wicked-stepmother! Being that no one was going to be able to replace Montgomery's place in the team's hearts, it seems like an excellent choice. Plus, nothing like having a mutual adversary around to bring people closer together. She certainly doesn't seem like she'll be charmable, so she definitely not a love-interest for Castle!

I'm thinking she'll be the drama version of Sue on Glee - the woman we love to hate, but also keeps things interesting!

Penny Johnson Jerald will be brilliant! (I can still hear her say "Dhayyyy-vid" in my head every time I see her...Loved her in 24!!!) She has the ability to be charmingly nasty. To wrap around people like a feather boa...only to turn into an boa constrictor when your guard is down.
Beckett better start coming up with some pretty good ideas for Castle to stick around...something tells me "Iron Gates" will not be swayed by those baby blues (or a signed copy of Naked Heat!)

I love the nickname "Iron Gates". I'm pretty sure it was Ryan who gave her that nickname. He just seems like the guy who will drop it in conversation without realizing he just gave her a nickname.

I also do think she is going to come down hard on the Caskett relationship at first, but she will be convinced that Caskett is good for the precinct by their work and Castle's charm will break her down eventually, after all he is just too ruggedly handsome for any woman to resist who is not Kate Beckett.


Having read some of the spoilers, I am convinced that Marlowe will use the season premiere to jettison DMB. Marlowe is already setting up other things to interfere with Caskett and the SO storyline is just unnecessary going forward. The SO storyline serve to build and to strengthen the Caskett relationship further while keeping it apart. Now Marlowe is moving into a new phase. He is introducing factors that will be challenging the relationship externally thereby forcing Caskett to fight for each other. "Iron Gates" will probably want Castle out of the precinct, and Kate will now be put in the role of fighting for Castle to stay. Alexis too can act as the antagonist to the relationship. I can see Alexis questioning Castle's decision to throw himself in front of the bullet meant for Kate. I can see her coming down hard on him because had he been hit she could have lost her father. Castle will need to explain his motives to her. He will need to tell her why Kate is important to him. The storylines are limitless... I love this show.
