CASTING
Tory Ellis (Maya Stojan) - Tech forensics expert returns once more.
Pi (Myko Olivier) - Recurring character. In his 20's, free spirt, Alexis' new boyfriend that she met on vacation. He is staying at the loft as he has lost his passport.
Richmond (?) - Efficient tech agent
Frank Bronson (?) - Former military. Potentially dangerous character.
Jeanette Desmond (?) - Frank Bronson's girlfriend.
Eastern European blonde woman who is being held hostage by an Eastern European man.
Matt Hendrix - In the 2 ep arc. Described as "young, intelligent and driven"
Rachel McCord (Lisa Edelstein) - Character around for at least 3 episode arc. No nonsense and intelligent. Tough and highly-skilled federal investigator. Plays a vital role in KB's decision about her future.
Carl Villante (Yancey Arias) - Head of an elite investigative unit. He clashes with B&C during the case.
THE START OF THE EPISODE
First line of the season: KB "OMG! You're proposing? I thought you were breaking up with me!"
We pick back up where Watershed left off...back at the swings. We get the answer to the question Castle asked Beckett. It is a very "Castle" answer. We get another answer to another important question.
We also have the KB line "There's something I have to tell you"
After the swings...
TIME JUMP OF TWO MONTHS and episode takes off in an unexpected direction that we won't see coming...
Castle has been on a 12 cities in 11 days book tour. He arrives home to the loft to find 2 surprises...one is probably Pi
Castle visits Beckett in (lets say DC and stop beating around the FBI job offer)...and they have dinner. Beckett has red wine with her salmon. That red wine has a certain affect on Beckett, puts her in a certain mood *wink*
We get the lines:
KB "Can you get that that makes me feel all..."
RC "I'll buy you a whole case"
While visiting Beckett in (lets say DC ;P) Castle decides to (as he SO often does) poke around in the case that *cough* FederalBeckett *cough* is working/investigating.
This poking around seems to involve Castle using Ryan & Esposito as sounding boards for his "investigation." This interference causes trouble with superiors and PUTS EITHER CASTLE OR BECKETT IN SERIOUS JEOPARDY (more on this later)
Okay, judging by the reviews it seems to me that Castle kind of pulls a chaos theory thing. You know the one? A butterfly beats it's wings and 3 days later, thousands of miles away an avalanche occurs? Yeah.
Castle's investigating has larger & more serious fallout than he anticipates.
ACTION AND PERIL
There is an abduction at gunpoint. Person abducted twice has gun pulled on them twice.
(possibly that blonde Eastern European woman mentioned in CASTING section?)
A major character gets shot several times
A major character is involved in a car crash.
NEW INFORMATION: Car crash is not at the end of the episode and neither is the shooting.
(Begs the question: if shooting and crash are NOT at the end of the episode...what is the cliffhanger? Must be something NEW?)
Person shot is NOT the same as person involved in the car crash.
One of the two people involved in the car crash is killed. It is possible that this crash does not kill "HIM"
6x01 ends on a shocking cliffhanger. A major character's life is in jeopardy/at risk (one article states it is a "24hrs to live" situation)
There is a jarring and slightly improbable "fake out"
Tamala described this episode as "explosive"
One of the articles states don't worry if you don't know what the title of the episode means (Valkyrie)...for most of the episode no one else knows either.
Now, this suggests at some point WE DO know what the title of the episode means.
Valkyrie is one of a host of female figures who decide who lives & dies on the battlefield. It means "chooser of the slain."
This case also goes "all the way to the top"
Either that blonde Eastern European woman who is abducted turns out to be the instigator and not the victim...
Or, it could be the FEMALE we need to pay attention to is Rachel McCord...or a female higher up in an alphabet agency or in politics?
RANDOM & MISCELLANEOUS
Martha has to call a lawyer
There are Caskett kisses and someone uses a pet name.
The FBI set where Beckett may or may not be working? It needs to pay the electricity bill. It's dark. Suggesting not everything is bright and shiny in BeckettWorld. Hankering for the warm wood tones of the 12th Precinct maybe?
Ryan is practicing swaddling on a doll that he keeps in his desk drawer at the 12th.
Apparently, after watching Valkyrie the title change for 6x02 will make more sense. The original title for the second episode of Season Six was "Better Half" it was changed to "Dreamworld"...
Better half has me wondering about Castle & Beckett...and wondering about that Eastern European man & woman...and Frank Bronson & his girlfriend.
Dreamworld makes me wonder about this deleted AWM tweet
