Does the fact that the wedding will probably happen in season 7 count as “anything”? New showrunner David Amann hinted as much when he chatted with my colleague Samantha Highfill. “We understand there’s disappointment,” he said. “We’re committed to the Castle-Beckett relationship. Over the course of season 7, their relationship will continue to blossom and grow, and perhaps some of the things that people might have wanted to see in season 6 may present themselves a little bit later.” One suggestion: Hold the wedding somewhere within walking distance of both the bride and the groom.

CASTLE

Unless you've been vacationing under a rock, you know this much about the season-ending inferno which a distraught Kate laid witness to: Rick was not in the car. As the how/why/who of that misdirect/Rick's vanishing is explored over the first run of episodes, showrunner David Amann says the shocking truth will not tear "Caskett" apart but "make them stronger." It also will crack open a brand-new, overdue chapter in our title character's backstory. "We've been conscious for a while of wanting to dig a little more deeply into Castle, but we also felt like there was the mythology of Beckett['s mother's murder] to resolve," Amann explains. "Now that it has been, we have some 'real estate' in which we can explore Castle without it being in competition with things going on in Beckett's backstory."

BONUS SPOILER | Series creator Andrew W. Marlowe notes that although Senator Bracken is now paying the piper for his role in Johanna Beckett's aforementioned offing, "We still have two [pieces of mythology] very much in play" – 3XK and/or his disciples, and spy daddy Jackson Hunt

Is Castle Heading for Another Wedding? The Answer May Surprise You

ABC’s Castle already has (literally) detoured Rick and Kate’s first go at a walk down the aisle. But once the smoke has cleared from the season-ending car crash site, might they take a stab at “I Do, Part 2″?

Although ABC is mum on the topic, we are hearing that Rick and Kate will follow through on exchanging vows and become “Caskett” in the eyes of the law at some point during Season 7. (If you need us to narrow the timetable a bit, watch for the couple to tie the knot before the end of 2014.)

And just what sort of ceremony might (the oh-so-patient) Castle fans expect? As series creator Andrew W. Marlowe told us in the wake of heart-crushing Season 6 cliffhanger, “We know that we owe them a wedding that accurately reflects who Castle and Beckett are.”

Surely he’ll end up on Beckett’s radar, but wouldn’t it be cool if he appeared in the same episode as the long-awaited return of Annie Wersching’s Dr. Kelly Nieman so it’s a 24 reunion? Alas, my sources say there’s no update on when Wersching will actually be back this season

Will the Castle cliff-hanger be resolved early in the new season or strung out for ages? —


New showrunner David Amann would like a little from Column A and a little from Column B. "After the second episode, the audience will have some but not all of the answers about what exactly is going on," he says of explaining just how and why Castle's car came to be engulfed in flames. "It's a sufficient amount [of resolution] that the characters can move and get back to life as they knew it, but the effects of what happened to Castle will re-emerge and re-assert themselves later in the season." However, don't expect that to necessarily slow down the re-booking of a wedding. So, will we see Castle-Beckett nuptials this season? "I think that is very possible," Amann says.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY TALKS TO DAVID AMANN


Last fans heard of Castle’s disappearance, Castle was being warned that he might not want the truth. And according to showrunner David Amann, the truth isn’t going to reveal itself anytime soon considering that Castle’s disappearance won’t be revisited in the next four episodes. However, Amann did promise that we’ll come into contact with it again in the near future. And when we do, fans don’t need to be worried about the truth messing with Castle and Beckett’s relationship.

“We don’t regard what happened to Castle as some kind of time bomb that’s going to go off and mess up their relationship or fundamentally change who he is as a character,” Amann said. “It’s just an aspect of mystery that he is irresistably going to be drawn back to at some future point this season.”

But until then, we got Amann to give us a rundown of what fans can expect from the show for the rest of 2014.
