"Rise" - In a riveting opening that picks up just moments after last season's climactic finale, Detective Beckett (Stana Katic) fights for her life as Castle (Nathan Fillion), plagued by guilt over his role in the events, struggles to uncover who's behind her brutal shooting. Meanwhile, back at the precinct, Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Esposito (Jon Huertas) have to adjust, as Victoria "Iron" Gates (Penny Johnson Jerald, "24") becomes the precinct's new uncompromising Captain. Also very suspicious... ...why is Beckett's dialogue off limits?

Wondering what they mean by "fans...will not be disappointed, particularly when it comes to the somewhat unexpected direction that creator Andrew Marlowe has decided to take the show’s central will-they-or-won’t-they-couple."

It's both unexpected yet not disappointing

And I have to wait until Tuesday morning (my time) to watch it!! Do I have the will power to stay away from any potential spoilers leaking out via twitter, tumblr and all the message boards? Ya know I think I'd actually like to watch it without knowing what is gonna happen

Hmmm what wouldn't we expect? I don't expect Beckett to say I love you back. I think that is probably the only thing that would shock me. OK them getting together but it being a secret from everyone would shock me. But neither have a chance in hell of happening Ok the "I love you" from Beckett has a bigger chance of happening than the second.

They could say let's try this...slowly...under the radar...under the radar of Gates?

It HAS to be something Beckett says to Castle OR the psychologist?
She must say something that the ABC publicity Department don't want leaking out? They basically gave free reign over everything else! Spoil away...but not Beckett!

As long as at the end of the series this doesn't turn out to the continuation of Castle's books and Beckett is really dead

Maybe she can get all better by the end of the episode because Castle IS writing a different ending for Beckett... omg now I am freaking out that this show will end like Lost! Or was it Survivor? Someone slap me.

Her final words will be "I Love You" as Castle is walking away. He wont hear them because that was not her intention, but we the audience will Know it....

OK I need to re-word my "what would surprise me" lol Beckett saying "I love you" to Castle and him hearing her would be something unexpected!

^^^^^^Two things about the article:

1. Confirmation that Beckett and Castle spent the time apart.
2. Neither Beckett nor Castle are alright emotionally. Castle feels guilty about her shooting, and Beckett is still to obsessed with her mothers killer to stop and pursue a relationship with Castle.

With this article, I get the sense that we are going to get an acknowledgement from Beckett that she loves Castle, but she is too afraid to risk his life as long as she is in this quest to solve her mother's murder. As the season moves forward, she will realize how wrong she is.

Castle does spend some time with Beckett in the hospital post-surgery and I have to say, Nathan Fillion’s acting in the scene was particularly impressive.

While I really don’t want to ruin that conversation, is it weird to say I felt proud of a fictional character? One of the two admits something about themselves that is pretty key to understanding their mindset and behavior. (Vague, I know. But it will be better if that particular nugget isn’t ruined.)

^^^^^ Marisa's latest confirms my belief that Beckett will acknowledge that she loves Castle near the end, but she will tell Castle prior to this that she can not pursue any romantic relationship until she is okay emotionally and catches her mother's killer. This will be her way of protecting him. She loves him too much to risk his life and Alexis'. So she will lie to him about not being aware of her feelings and his. We will know this because once Castle leaves the swings, she will whisper that she loves him.

I was thinking about the scene at the swings. From the spoilers so far, we know this is going to be an important scene in terms of Caskett. One of the spoilers said important in terms of establishing where one of the characters is emotionally. What if on this scene, Beckett tells Castle that she broke up with Josh due to her current emotional state and her need to solve her mother's murder. Beckett adds that she is too damage at the moment to really pursue a relationship with anyone. Beckett does this as a way to put some emotional distance between herself and Castle and also to hide the truth from him. The truth that she broke up with Josh because she overheard his confession and that she loves Castle too much to risk his life in her quest. She will hint to him that as soon as she is in a better place, she will be ready to love and to be loved. As Castle walks away, she will say to herself and to us .... "Castle I can not tell you the real truth. I broke up with Josh because I love you, and I want to be with you always. I just need time"... This satisfies the shippers and it frustrates us at the same time..

Remember the lucky fans who got to see the 'Swing Scene' being filmed?

They said it was emotional, Casketty...and they zipped their mouths closed over something else they'd seen...That piqued my curiosity at the time. Now I'm bouncing off the walls!

But I'm with you peeps...I think Andrew Marlowe giveth...and he also taketh away. Something could be revealed to the audience that Castle may not be privy to?

Let's face it Beckett and Castle still have some things to work through before they get together. Not TOO MUCH to work through mind you!
Knockout did a number on both of them and although they are rising again it may take a little time for them to find their feet and their rhythm...before the bell rings on mid season/sweeps.

My goodness, a few days with limited internet and the Castle spoilers go crazy!

Beckett, Beckett, Beckett.... First rule of magic is give them something to pay attention to, so they don't see what your actually doing. CASTLE is the one who's moody and gloomy and blaming himself. I'm thinking there will be a revel by Beckett, but Castle will somehow be the catalyst for putting on the brakes. What was it Marlowe said early May...something about Castle being her protector changing the dynamic? Not allowing BECKETT'S dialouge immediately shuts down ANYTHING from the swingset, so whether Castle or Beckett start the conversation the reporters and critics can't say a word about it. They've been apart, and when they're apart, Beckett goes down the rabbit hole. Say Castle can't tell her what's in that envelope - but perhaps won't lie about having it either. He's going to have to keep an emotional distance, which is going to make things harder for Beckett - especially if she admits her feelings as well. Like, they may BOTH know they love each other and come to a mutual decision that's gonna break both their hearts... (for a number of episodes, anyway. )
