ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Let’s start with Monday’s episode. I’ve heard something about Slaughter-Castle bro time, and I need to know more.
ALEXI HAWLEY: [Laughs] The last time they were together in season 4, Slaughter almost Castle killed a good half dozen times, so we thought we would revisit that dynamic because the two of them are obviously so great together and they have history that stretches way before this show. But we also wanted to try and turn it on its ear a little bit. We didn’t just want to make the same exact episode where Slaughter comes in and almost gets Castle killed several times and then that’s it. We definitely see an unexpected side of Slaughter, and Castle ends up with a little more power in the relationship than he had last time, which also gives it an interesting dynamic.
TERENCE PAUL WINTER: Actually, spending this time with Slaughter actually helps Castle rethink his relationship with Beckett in a good way.
HAWLEY: Yeah, it gives him a little bit of perspective. That bro time, that talking about relationship time with a man that you wouldn’t expect to have insight is actually good for him.
