James Brolin Guest Stars as Castle's Dad

"Hunt" -- In the powerful conclusion of a two-episode story arc, when the FBI fails to get his daughter back, Castle takes matters into his own hands, reaching out to a shadowy fixer to help him recover Alexis. But Castle soon learns that his daughter's kidnapping may be part of an even more sinister agenda, on "Castle," MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET). Emmy and Golden Globe-winner James Brolin ("The West Wing," "Marcus Welby, M.D.") guest stars in the episode as Castle's dad.

"Castle" stars Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle, Stana Katic as NYPD Detective Kate Beckett, Susan Sullivan as Martha Rodgers, Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle, Penny Johnson Jerald as NYPD Captain Victoria Gates, Tamala Jones as Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Jon Huertas as NYPD Detective Javier Esposito, and Seamus Dever as NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan.

Guest Cast: James Brolin as Castle's dad, Dylan Walsh as FBI Agent Harris, Christopher Heyerdahl as Jacque Henri, Nestor Serrano as Gregory Volkov.

"Hunt" was written by Andrew W. Marlowe and directed by Rob Bowman.

ABC's Castle is a lot of fun when it takes on the lighter side of its characters, but every now and then it gears up to deliver a gut-punch of a dramatic episode. Now, in the first part of this two-episode story arc, "Target," Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) begin a murder investigation that also exposes a plot to kidnap the daughter of a wealthy Middle Eastern businessman. First they think it might have something to do with terrorism, than the businessman's Egyptian enemies, and that's all juicy and international enough for any "Nikki Heat" novel, but the world of Castle is a bit more grounded than that. When it turns out that Alexis (Molly Quinn) is friends with this kidnapped girl and was actually taken along with her, too, because she was a "witness," that's when things really sober the NYPD up...

CASTLE Advance Review: 5×15 “Target”

First of all, if you’re going *totally* spoiler-free, you may not want to read further. I’m not giving away anything major, but I do know that some Castle fans like to stay completely out of the loop until the episode airs. You have been warned.

This isn’t your mother’s Castle episode. No, really… even the most serious of storylines cannot compare with what will be viewed by millions of Castle fans Monday Feb. 18th. We’re used to seeing BAMF Kate –but in “Target”, several other characters are pushed out of their comfort zones into badass territory.

And then, to quote a line from Espo: “Things… just keep getting weirder.” We already know that Alexis’ life is in peril, but HOW she is put in harm’s way came as a surprise to me. I’d thought about the many reasons someone would have to kidnap Richard Castle’s progeny –and I confess, I was nowhere near the mark...

I was at the ABC boards tonight, and even there people are ecstatic about the episode and dumping on the shippers....

Seriously some of the Caskett shippers wont even be happy even if Marlowe were to give them a Caskett sex scene on screen.
