Episode 7: Once Upon A Time In The West”
Written by Terence Winter, who also wrote “Blue Butterfly,” in which Castle was a film noir P.I., this episode has a Western theme. Posing as newlyweds, Castle and Beckett go undercover at an Old West resort in order to solve a murder. That being said, Amann promised “a lot of Western fun,” including stagecoaches and the like. Generally, he said, “It’s an incredibly fun and charming episode and I think a good follow-up to episode six in that regard.”

TVLINE | Was it always your plan to have some sort of a honeymoon venue factor into the subsequent episode (airing Nov. 17)?
It was something that kind of came out naturally, because they’re investigating a case that is goes back to this dude ranch. They were going to have to go undercover, in this case under the pretense that they are newlyweds, even though they are newlyweds. But they’re not there to go on their honeymoon, they’re there to solve a murder. But that doesn’t mean that some fun can’t be had along the way.

TVLINE | Will they have squeezed in an actual honeymoon between Episodes 6 and 7?
They will not have had one; that’s an issue that we’ll be addressing at the top of Episode 7.

TVLINE | Did I hear or read that there are Firefly nods to be found in the Old West episode?
I think it is possible…..

Well of course I had to ask if there were any “badass Beckett” moments to watch for, seeing as they’ve been in short supply this season, and he did not disappoint. “There is a badass Beckett moment of sorts – I mean, I would consider it a badass Beckett moment — at the end of Episode 7, ‘Once Upon a Time in the West,'” he shared. “Keep your eyes out for that.” BONUS SCOOP: This just in… Episode 12 will make like Jane the Virgin and revolve around the cast of the telenovela Santos Desperaodos, begging the question: Has Kamar de los Reyes already guest-starred?
