Wow I think I fail. lol. I tried to reply to your post and be like, "right on. I so agree" but somehow I don't think it posted under yours. Sad times.

ANOTHER reviewer whining about comedy. They should stick with sitcoms if they want a laugh-track every week. Seriously, they are mad because they think Castle should stick to being funny. Like Marlowe serves up a season like a wellbalanced meal - yet some reviewers seem to want just one thing on the plate. Truthfully, the show's always been a mix of funny and serious -they do both well, and IMO, the changing up let's them tell a really great overall story. Anyway, here's the review

Now, THIS was an interesting and fair review. It's done by a team, and they approach the show differently. I agree with the first reviewer, but the second one makes some very valid points. It's just that for me the character interactions feeling legit are more important than police procedure. Also, I disagree that Kate's been doing the same thing to Castle for three years. It took Castle almost two seasons to really evolve and see just how much she meant to him. Kate has been reacting to him AND his changes. She got up the nerve to END a relationship and tell Castle she was interested at the end of season two. Only he'd already given up and moved on. Yes, Kate has some mega intimacy issues, but her hesitancy with Castle isn't unfounded. IMO, the fact that she's looking at her stuff, acknowledging to herself,(and to a certain extend to Castle) that the relationship she wants is with Castle is huge.

Wow how much comedy do they want? Slapstick? I thought pretty much every scene with Iron Gates was amusing... "A killer hiding space" come on! You can't tell me that didn't crack you up "I'll try not to get caught" was also funny to me... how much comedy do they want in a drama????

And yeah, I could care less how "real" the show is one police procedures... just show me some good character interaction, some mystery... and I'm good.

FINALLY! A reviewer not bemoaning how the premiere was so "serious" and not like a Castle episode! Rather, they reviewed what happened. How NOVEL!

Well, yeah, I disagreed with that! . Still, I liked the review of the episode! I think I made it pretty clear why Castle hooking up with someone else would be pretty stupid.

I find it interesting what makes a top moment in "reality" TV and what makes a top moment in scripted shows. JUST SAYIN'!

Still, it's great to see Castle's "Rise" recognized by TV Guide, it really was such a well done episode...like something on cable... (oops, - I didn't say that! )

Here's the review from TVFanatic. Also good, more indepth. No, it's not the round-table, but still. TVFanatic's a site that really seems to like knowing what's on the fan's minds, which is why they encourage feedback. The folks who cover Castle, also really seem to LIKE the show. I can't say that for evert site. You know, you can tell when the writers are just phoning it in.

Anyway, check out there comment section, cuz the people who comment there tend to be our kind of Castle fans: thoughtful and articulate. (not sure if they're into the smiley's though. Hey, you can't have everything. )
