SUMMER NEWS & SPOILERS FOR SEASON 5!

Yep! We've gotten through an AMAZING season 4 of Castle, with a heck of a move forward (Caskett!) and LOTS of things up in the air!
...and we're on hiatus until FALL.

Not to worry! There will definitely be scoop all summer, and THIS is thread to find it and post it!

Just to start off - TV guide did a great post-Always interview with
Marlowe. Here's a snippet:

So to be clear, there won't be an urgent phone call that Castle's mom has been in an accident or something like that?

Marlowe: No. I think we need to get to the other side of the storytelling. I think we've played the interruptions as much as we possibly can. And I think we're really interested to see what's going to happen with these two. What does that relationship look like? This is going to allow us to reembrace some of the fun, because relationships are tricky things and they don't always go the way you want them to.


So you want to see them in a more playful place with one another?

Marlowe: [Seeing them] figuring out their rhythms with one another is going to be fun for the audience to watch. In no way do we think this is going to end the fun and the tension between Castle and Beckett because the question is now going to become: Where does this relationship go and how does it affect their ability to work together?

Would you call them a couple at this point or is it not that defined?

Marlowe: I think those are all the questions the characters are going to be asking themselves, and that's going to be part of the fun. When they wake up the next morning, are both of them still in the same place? And Beckett's actually resigned from the force. So, what is she going to do with her life now? There's all sorts of stuff to jump into next season.

Hi Sandra. I hear that you were lucky enough to chat with the stunning Stana Katic. What did she have to say about the season finale? I know how much she was rooting for Castle/Beckett to finally get together. Any teases for what is to come in season 5 or what she hopes to come? — Cheryl

Since season 5 has yet to hit paper, no teases. But she certainly echoed executive producer Andrew Marlowe’s statements about the chemistry we will see between the two. “I don’t know what they’re going to do. I know that Andrew has always felt like the show has that kind of His Girl Friday feel,” she says. “And as in any relationship, there are all these charmingly complicated moments of adjustment and getting to know each other in a relationship that could be charming and compelling to watch.”

Question: Do you have any scoop on the season of premiere of Castle? —Ivy

Ausiello: Well, Castle and Beckett obviously know they hooked up, and we know they hooked up, but what about everyone else? “It’ll be fun to see who finds out about them being together —who stays out of the loop and for how long and how they decide to reveal all of that,” Stana Katic shared with us...

Question: With no Castle appearance at Comic-Con next week, do you think you can give us some scoop to ease our disappointment? Been dying to know something about Season 5! Perhaps the season premiere title? Pretty please! —Cheryl
Ausiello: The title is still TBD, but the plot of the episode isn’t. I hear it’ll mostly revolve around Beckett’s mom.

Ausiello: In the category of “fun” episodes on tap for Season 5, series boss Andrew Marlowe is hoping to have the team investigate a murder at a sci-fi convention —“That should be fun, given Nathan [Fillion]’s background and how much of a rock star he is at Comic-Con” —and maybe do a riff on The Office. “We’re thinking about an episode that’s shot documentary-style, where we get one-on-one confessionals with the camera and get to know what people really think about certain things

TV GUIDE answers a question on Caskett in Season 5...



I'm so excited for Castle, but I am so afraid the show will break them up soon. Got anything to make me feel better? —Erin

ADAM: Creator Andrew W. Marlowe promises there will be an "interesting honeymoon period," during which the new couple will feel each other out about how "real" the relationship is. (We said feel each other out, pervs.) But yes, there will be obstacles —most notably Capt. Gates and that little NYPD rule about partners not being romantically involved.

The Caskett kiss heard 'round the world wasn't the only explosive development in Castle's fourth season finale -- not only did Beckett and Esposito turn in their badges, but, to some degree, Ryan went against his fab foursome by towing the line.

So where will season five pick up? How long will the team stay disbanded? What's next for Castle & Beckett's burgeoning relationship?

To get those answers, and more, I caught up with Seamus Dever, who plays Detective Kevin Ryan, and found out that while season five won't be as heavy as last year, it will still bring major drama!....

ADAM: Creator Andrew W. Marlowe gives us a firm maybe. He insists that he wants to further explore that story line this season, but only if the perfect story comes along. "We know there's a big burden on it, and we want to get it right," Marlowe says. "It promises great potential in storytelling and allows us to recontextualize Castle a bit and get some more insight into him. But until I have something I'm 100 percent happy with, it's a hesitation. I'm trying to find the most fruitful path emotionally for our characters."

Good ol' Marlowe! No point in doing something just for the sake of doing something.

He's right about Castle! Although we (as an audience) might feel that Castle is an open book (pardon the pun) to us...due to all those talks with Martha & Alexis and the journey we've been on these past 4 years with him...We actually have more insight in to Beckett (yes, that's right! Beckett! The "walled up" character) than we do with Castle.

We know what motivates Beckett, we know why she reacts certain ways to certain events (her mom's case, her being shot) but we only get snatches of Castle's motivations. Why does he revert to "Playboy Rick" when he's hurt? Really, why DID he become a writer of murder mystery novels? And just what exactly happened in his childhood (whose range seems to sweep through fun times with his mother's fellow actors backstage...to stuck in boarding school homesick, lonely and feeling out of place.)

I have said that the Characters on Castle are like Icebergs...or maybe Superheroes! Sometimes we only get to see one aspect of their character (or we assume that main character has particular dominant character traits) Martha, for instance, bright coloured clothing, love of life, lives big, superficial actress...HOWEVER she is the one that is the voice of reason in Castle's ear most of the time. Yes, the "mad mother" makes an excellent Jiminy Cricket!

This is my favorite part (coz last seasons 4x07 was GREAT!)

" Have you heard anything about the 3XK killer coming back, since Ryan was very involved in that story?


I think it's going to happen again. I think he's going to reemerge but I think this time it's going to be a little more focused on Castle instead of Ryan. That little scene that they had of him being tied up and sort of threatened by 3XK is going to come around again and I think we're going to see some of that."

I know it won’t be all sunshine as there will be a case they will have to investigate, but what else can you share about this episode? Hoping we’ll get to see some cute moments of them as a couple since they will be away from the precinct and wont’ have to hide their relationship. —Cheryl

I think my favorite parts might end up being AT the precinct, where the pair will become very good at stealing glances and moments. “I’m hoping the audience is interested to see how we deal with that material —how we deal with them two in a relationship together and what that looks like when they’re out together in public, when they’re stealing moments or when they have to pretend that they’re not,” says executive producer Andrew Marlowe.
